Improve Battlefield 2042 performance and increase FPS

In-Game settings

bf 2042 ingame settings

Adjust graphics settings depending on the performance of your computer (Ultra, High, Medium, Low. Your choice), except these five options:

  • Motion Blur
  • Chromatic aberration
  • Film Grain
  • Vignette
  • Lens Distortion

Start from High and keep adjusting them as per your likings. There is no set rule for graphics settings if you are looking to optimize your system in the first place.

There are some post processing effects that are causing some lag on most of the computers. You can experiment, but we recommend to set Motion Blur to “0”, and other options to “OFF”

Launch Options

There is two more options. Every time you boot into the game, you should open console by pressing “~”, and enter these two values:

PostProcess.DofMethod DofMethod_None
WorldRender.LightTileCsPathEnable 0

There will be no more of that horrible defocus when aiming if you use these. Try them out, and if they do not work for you, remove them.

Configuration file settings

Now we can move to our game configuration file. Proceed to directory:

C:\Users\%USERFOLDER%\Documents\Battlefield 2042\settings

Locate PROFSAVE_profile file, open it with any text editor, and change the settings below:

  • GstRender.Dx12Enabled 1
  • GstRender.ResolutionScale 1
  • GstRender.ShadowQuality 0
  • GstRender.WeaponDOF 0

Save changes, then Right-click on PROFSAVE_profile, click Properties, check the Read Only checkbox, and Apply.

Operating system settings and Tweaks

In Windows, search of Exploit Protection settings, then go to Program settings, click Add program to customize, and Choose exact file path.

You need to add here two files from the game directory, depending on the location of your Steam library:

\Steam\steamapps\common\Battlefield 2042\BF2042.exe
\Steam\steamapps\common\Battlefield 2042\BF2042_launcher.exe

Then go back to Exploit Protection settings, expand both files one at a time, and press Edit.

Scrolling down below you will find Control flow guard. Check the box next to Override system settings, turn off CFG and press Apply. PC restarting required.

Set Priority to High

After you launched the game, open Task Manager, go to Details, find BF2042.exe, Right click on this task, point at Set priority, and choose High.
